Today: One month old

Dear Baby Boy,

Today, you are one month old.

Today started out like any other day. We woke, you nursed, you sat in the swing while I showered, and then we bundled up the whole gang to take your big brother to preschool.

By the time we got around to heading home from preschool, it was time for you to eat again, and you were loudly vocalizing your disapproval with being strapped in a car seat instead of nestled against a boob. As we turned into the driveway, you suddenly quieted down. I parked the car, and hurried around to your door to grab the car seat and get you inside. And then...

And then.

And then I poked my head into your carseat. You looked back up at me, and saw me...like REALLY saw me.

And then, for the first time, you smiled at me. With your face, with your eyes, and with your beautiful little mouth. You smiled at me and your whole face lit up.

It. Was. Amazing.

Today when I woke up at 7 o'clock, I didn't know that it was possible for me to love you any more than I did, but by 9:30am I had fallen in love with you all over again.

Today you are one month old, and I am happier and prouder than ever to be your mom.
