Poll of the Week

OK, so we don't actually do a poll here every week, so I guess I can't really call it the Poll of the Week, but whatever, it's my party. And if y'all participate like good little readers, maybe we will make this a weekly activity!

So. Here's the trouble: I do laundry. Non Stop. It seems like I can never ever EVER get on top of the laundry monster in this place, metaphorically speaking of course. Cause I could just jump on top of the MOUNTAIN of it all, if I really wanted to get on top of it in the physical sense, but it's smelly, so why bother.

Back to the issue: I feel like there is an INSANE amount of laundry in this place, and I want to know what you think. So here's my question - How many people are there in your household, and how much laundry do YOU do? Like a load a day? 27 loads every other Saturday? Or what? I just wonder how 3 people (one of them being a little person) can make SO MANY dirty clothes!!

Comments Please!!

I'm just doing my first load in my new Samsung Hauzen SEW-6HW113 9kg front-loading washing machine. It's my first load since last Tuesday. When my daughter's with me I do about two or three loads a week. And it's all line (or really drying rack) dried so I don't really have the option to do more until it's dry.

I sure as heck don't know what freaky model my washer is but I can tell you then I when I have to do laundry, I have to do a lot. I'm one of those people who lets it pile up and then I do loads for days. I think this marathon happens once a week but lasts days because of drying on the line so weather comes into play. The chosen day is determined by Cam needing fresh face cloths or bibs, or Arras needing fresh work shirts or socks. I throw my own clothes in if I need to. So once a week, for a few days, but guess what? I NEVER hit the bottom of the basket! I always get fed up before all of it gets done!

What is this laundry you speak of? That must be something that Neven does. hee hee - it's true though, he is a good man.

Well, frankly, Jenn...if you and Steve were shorter, like Isaac and I...your clothes would take up less space in the washer = less laundry. Also...at least in summer, kids go naked = less laundry. You are a laundry slave because of genetics. Seriously, though - I do the laundry and I can tellyou that I generally run a load every day and do one load of diapers every Saturday morning. Naturally, the one-a-day thing doesn't always happen, then I have to run a bunch on the weekend to catch up...I never really catch up. That is the nature of the laundry beast. My nemesis is actually the pile of clean clothes waiting to be folded and put away. I'm great at cranking the loads through...but the finishing is my problem! I can now get TRistan to put away folded laundry...for money.

Ah ha! That's it - Gretel hit it on the head - it's not the doing of the laundry that gets me, it's the putting away of said laundry that I loose ground on...we have 4 laundry baskets and it seems like they're always full of CLEAN laundry waiting to be put away...which is almost more frustrating than the dirty stuff!!

I only do about three or four loads a week for the two of us. However, my lovely husband who does laundry and folds it and everything is incapable of putting his away. He throws it all on the spare room bed and wears it until it runs out! REally annoying when you have as many guests as we do!!

I only know the model number of my new washing machine because I was searching online for a manual in English. I couldn't find one so as far as my translation program can tell me my dial has settings for such enigmatic procedures as Life Sound, Economy Life, Rapidity, Tube Washing and Dehydration. My favorite is Big Laundry.

The putting away of the laundry is not such a difficult task, hypothetically, with only one load a week, but I still seem to have a lot of clean folded shirts, socks and underwear lying about at any given time. They'll eventually find their way into the chest of drawers if they don't get put on and worn first, I figure.
