My Lightbulb Moment

So the other day I was in my bedroom getting ready for bed. It had been a long day, actually a full day of work as I had gone in to help Steve a bit. I was tired, I was cranky, my boobs were killing me, and I had a migraine, my first one in over a week.

So I'm getting ready for bed, getting undressed. I take my jeans off, and my nursing tank top off.

If my life was a cartoon, this would be the point in the cartoon where the light bulb shows up over my head and turns on. (And I was topless, so it would have been a pretty funny cartoon!)

Because of last weeks flood, I haven't worn my nursing tanks for over a week. I haven't had sore boobs for over a week. And I haven't had a migraine.

And here I am, nursing tank in hand, boobs aching, and a killer headache.

And finally, it all makes sense.

Headaches that started about 5 days after Corben was born? Around the time I got out of my PJ's and started wearing real clothes.

Headaches that turned off and on with no reason related to food or sleep or anything else I could think of? Except that I was bouncing back between these tank tops and regular nursing bras.

Last week, an ENTIRE week of headaches, for 10 days straight? Well, I went out a lot for various appointments, and was likely wearing a tank almost every day. (I have 3.)

Now I don't think these tanks are really too small, but because they're made for a generic body size instead of a specific bra size, I think they're a bit "binding." They compress my chest, instead of supporting it.

I would be SO happy if this was the answer. I was thrilled to have gone nearly a week without headaches, but so annoyed that I didn't know WHY. I'm a find the problem, don't just treat the symptom kind of gal, and it was driving me BANANAS not to know what the root cause of it was. Sure, I could have just taken the drugs my GP provided me and walk around in a drug induced stupor, but that wasn't really enough for me. (And it bugs me that it was enough of a solution for her.)

So now I'm in the proving my theory phase. Yesterday I went out and spent an obscene amount of money on one nursing bra and one nursing tank (a different brand, with a specific cup and band size.) The (allegedly) evil tanks have been shelved for now. And, we'll see what happens.

Wish me luck!

That's interesting. I, too, have been living in nursing tanks since my little one was born in Jan. They've been a godsend but I look forward to wearing regular clothes again one day!
