Storms are best when shared

Mabel’s Labels is having a contest...a BlogHer ’10 contest – and their inquiring minds want to know: "(Hypothetical) Electrical storms are going to wipe out the Internet (perhaps forever). You have one day left to write about your passions: what do you want to say to the blogosphere in 300 words or less?"

Dear Interwebs,

Let’s face it – if there’s electrical storms a’commin’, there’s a high likelihood that we’ll get hit first, and hardest, living so high on our hill here. This blog has seen our little family through a new home, a marriage, a few deaths, a LOT of births, including two of our own, not to mention all the other sometimes exciting, sometimes mundane shenanigans that go on around here.

Thanks for sharing it all with us.

This may be the last you hear from us, like, evah, so listen up! Call them passions, call them lessons, but here’s a short list of the most important information I’ve garnered in my thirtysomething years on this planet – so pay attention:

-Life it too short to drink bad wine. Or cheap beer.

-Buckle up – you and your kids, tight, every time.

-Food is never tastier than when it comes out of your own garden.

-Learn to separate your wants from your needs...you’ll end up with less “stuff,” more friends, and more love in your life. And our planet will thank you.

-Your babies will never be tinier or more innocent than they are today. Never miss a moment.

-Long after your babies are grown, your partner will (hopefully) remain. Don’t forget to nourish your love for him/her while you nourish your babies.

-If you want something, you can’t just hang out and wait for it to be provided to you. Make it happen.

-If you don’t have dreams, you can’t have dreams come true.

- Listen to your mother.

Now, there’s a storm commin’! Go buy some stamps. Place one last Amazon order. Then light some candles, curl up with the fam, and enjoy the show!

So long, and thanks for all the fish.
