I shall keep you in suspense no longer

Well, I know you're all sitting around with baited breath, wondering how we slept last night (Or, at least Gretel is!)

It went WAY better than I expected. Remarkably well in fact!

We did the physical crib to bed transition with Griffin's "help," meaning he stole our tools and the screws, and we tried to take them back to put the bed back together. We got him very excited about his new bed. And then we played and played and played in his new room, wore him right out, put on his PJ's, gave him a nice bottle of warm milk....and parked him in front of his "Street" (Sesame Street) for a good 1/2 hour. I wanted to make sure he was TUCKERED. OUT.

There wasn't much of a fight on the way down, and what fight there was I could quell gently by "snuggling" with him, which is the nice way of saying holding him down. He did wake up at 3:30, mostly I think because he was soaking wet. (This kid pees like an elephant, I swear!) He went back to sleep with some more "snuggling," and slept until...wait for it...7:45am!!

All in all, I would say that the toddler bed was a remarkable success! I would also say that we likely haven't seen the end of it's challenges just yet (wait until nap time this afternoon!!)

We did the exact same thing. If the kid is going to suck at sleeping in a crib, why not just have them suck at sleeping in a bed?

Glad it went well. We are just now (three months) totally settled down and back to sleeping like normal humans. Forget I said that, though, because I don't want jinxed.

oh gosh, I meant to comment and completely forgot; not that you needed me to, it looks like you got a working plan.

My son was never a good sleeper, ever. He needs company to go to sleep - when he goes to bed at night and if he wakes in the middle of the night. We've just dealt with it in the best way we figured was good for him to feel secure. Let's just say, there are nights that it's a good thing he has a single bed.

Oh, and he pees like an elephant, too. Saturates EVERYTHING! (I thought it was just the cloth diapers ... maybe it's a boy thing)

Hope ya got a rubber sheet on that fancy new 'big boy' bed! When Phelan started peeing like an elephant I started putting a g-diaper insert (www.gdiapers.com fer those of you that don't know about 'em) inside a prefold and he now only leaks at night if the wrap is on badly or falls off. The 'g' adds perfect amount of emergency absorbancy.

g'luck
