Griffin came home from school the other day, and announced that he has a girlfriend.
Not only that, but they are in love.
And then he did a little dance in our back entry-way (never making it beyond there before he could blurt out his news,) and skipped around in a circle and sang "I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love!"
Its super cute, and super terrifying, all at the same time. I've done that very same dance, maybe even with the skip, and it's a beautiful thing. I've also done the dance of heartbreak, which is significantly less attractive, and involves far too much alcohol for a 5 year old. I can't bear the thought of him having his little wide-open heart broken, now, or 20 years from now.
Then again, there's no point in living in fear of something that might happen down the road. So for now, we celebrate - life, love, and all other things that make us smile.

Cute Things my Kid Says, Volume IV
We've been talking about rhyming with Griffin lately, and today he informed me that "boobie rhymes with doobie."
Why, yes, I suppose it does.
Tomorrow we're switching to math.

Today's Update
Last night, after hauling ass up to Griffin's bedroom for the umpteenth time, I headed back down the stairs only to miss (or something) and went butt first down about 1/2 a dozen stairs. After Steve's heart rate returned to normal, the dog settled back down again, and I determined that I was OK, I got a little bit excited thinking that maybe this would kick start baby's arrival.
No such luck.
In fact, we just returned from the midwife who said that things are still "closed for business" down there.
Great.
However, the episode did result in a very adorable little chat with Griffin this morning:
G: Mommy, what happened with you and the stairs last night?
M: Mommy fell down a few of the stairs.
G: Where did you get hurt?
M: It hurt a little bit all over, but Mommy didn't hurt anything specific.
G: (Slightly confused) But I need to give you a kiss...where can I kiss you better??
My kid is too damn cute!
And since I've been slightly slack on picture sharing, here's a few shots from our toboggan and torch adventure!

Cute Things my Kid Says, Volume III
Griffin: Daddy has a new friend!
Me: Mmhmm.
Griffin: Yeah, her name is Julia...
Me: Oh really?
Griffin: Yeah and she came to our house when you were at work...
Me: Oh REALLY?
Grffin: ...yeah, and she cleaned up all my toys!
This is when I clue in that Griffin is talking about Delia, our cleaning lady, who does an excellent job of coming over while I'm at work and cleaning up Griffin's toys...and everything else! Since that day, Delia has been refered to as "Daddy's new friend Julia," just because it makes me giggle!
Glad I can count on my 3 year old to keep me updated as to the goings on around here when I'm away!

Cute things my kid said, volume 2
Me: Griffin, why are you being so infuriating this morning?
Griffin: You're jealous.
Me: Bwah-hahahahahahahahahahaha!
******
(Griffin is standing on his chair, dancing around, while eating his cereal.)
Me: Griffin, can you please sit and eat your breakfast?
Griffin: Aw, c'mon buddy, you just gotta TRY this!
Me: Bwah-hahahahahahahahahahahaha!
(Sorry about the lack of...well...anything around here. These days I get home and walk right into a great big brick wall of tired, and have a hard time getting around it. Less than 8 weeks to go...)
